These foods have been dubbed “diabetes superfoods”, due to their significant health benefits for people with diabetes, it said.
While it’s absolutely crucial to maintain a healthy, balanced diet, citrus fruits are a great addition to patients’ diet plans.
They’re packed full of vitamin C, which helps to maintain a healthy blood pressure.
But it’s also important to avoid binging on citrus fruits, as they also contain plenty of carbohydrates, which have an impact on blood sugar levels.

“There are certain foods that provide huge health benefits for people with diabetes,” said the medical website. “They are often known as ‘diabetes superfoods’.
“Although many of these foods offer significant health benefits for people with diabetes, they should not be relied upon entirely.
“Citrus fruit is full of vitamin C. One large orange contains all the daily vitamin C you need. Citrus fruits also balance blood pressure.
“Citrus fruits offer a lot of benefits, but the carbohydrate content makes it advisable for people with diabetes only in moderation.”
The best types of citrus fruits include oranges, grapefruit, lemons, and limes.
You could also benefit by eating certain types of berries, if you have diabetes.
Berries are rich in compounds called anthocyanins, which have been claimed to reduce insulin resistance and improve insulin sensitivity.
Blueberries, strawberries, blackberries, and raspberries are ideal types of berries to add to your breakfast or desserts.
Many people may have diabetes without even knowing it, because the symptoms may often be mistaken for something less serious.
Most diabetes diagnoses are made following a routine doctors’ check-up.
Some of the most common symptoms include feeling unusually tired, passing more urine than normal, and feeling very thirsty.
You should speak to a doctor if you’re worried about the warning signs of diabetes.
